Usually the plane has one stop during the flight but you should not have to leave the plane. Condor flies during winter schedule four times a week: Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday from Frankfurt via St. Lucia, Barbados or Tobago to Porlamar. Other airlines The Dutch airline Martin air also flies several times a week from Amsterdam, also Air2000 from London Heathrow. The alternative way to reach the island is to take a scheduled flight with one of the European airlines to Caracas. Lufthansa flies daily from Frankfurt to Caracas. Flights from Caracas to Porlamar are leaving several times an hour with different national carriers (e.g. Aeropostal, Laser, Conviasa). Other European scheduled flights are leaving nearly every day to Caracas: Iberia from Madrid, Air France from Paris, British Airways from London Heathrow or KLM from Amsterdam. The traveler who wants to reach the island from the Venezuelan mainland can choose alternatives to the different flights: the ferry from Cumana or Puerto la Cruz. The journey takes 4 4,5 hours with normal ferries, Margarita Express (more luxury but significantly more expensive) more or less 2 hours. A more adventurous way to get to the island is to organize a private boat from the peninsula Araya which takes you there in 1-2 hours. |
