Enjoy our organized excursions to

Los Roques - Orinoco Delta - Canaima

The mainland of Venezuela offers a great variety of possibilities for round trips. The route can be fixed individually.

Orinoca Delta
The Orinoco Delta and its rich diversity of species is breath taking. The area is accessable for tourists and offers jungle camps for accommodation. The usual way to get there is with airplanes to one of the different airports in the delta.
To experience the jungle close you can take boat rides into the heart of the jungle. Looking at these exotic animals and vegetation is an unforgettable experience and a great foto opportunity. Visiting the Waraos is an extraordinary experience.

National park of Canaima
The most reknown highlight of the national park is "Salto Angel" which with over 1000 meter is the highest waterfall in the world. Usually you only fly over and by Salto Angel but you can also take an organized trip directly to the waterfall. The tepuis, high mountainous platforms, a relict of a much older earth, offer a unforgettable panorama. In Canaima Nationalpark there are a variety of lagoones with small waterfalls and exotic vegetation which invite for a swim. Here too you travel by small bush plane and find accommodation in bush camps. The region is more tourisically developed than Orinoco Delta but there is no mass tourism yet.

Peninsula Paria
The peninsula is situated in the north east of Venezuela. Its lush vegetation and damp and hot climate form a strong contrast to the dry coastal region to Carúpano. One can make a side trip to the finca Vuelta Larga when going from Carúpano via El Pilar to Bohoral in direction Guaraúnos. The Finca is led by a German under ecological criteria. He offers accommodation as well as excursions to the savanna. In addition one can observe and learn there the traditional methods of production of wooden furniture. At the village Macuro in the extreme east Christoph Kolumbus touched for the first time American soil here. A simple wooden cross reminds of this historical moment.

Caracas
In Caracas there is no time for illusions. Clearly dominating are steel and concrete instead of interesting colonial houses.
There is no doubt: Caracas is a modern, pulsating Southamerican city with plugged streets, loud and poluted and barrios of the poorest right next to the fortresses of the rich. With a tour guide it is still worth having a look at the city. But don’t go without. A must in Caracas is the visit of the Avila. You can hike up there but better take the cable car. This way you can enjoy all the way the magnificent panorama of the city and the ocean. There is even an ice skating arena on the mountain. The deserted Hotel Humboldt looks interresting. Supposedly Frank Sinatra was going to buy it to open a casino. A round trip through the city of Caracas offers an impression of how narrow it all is and of the sozial diferences in a tide spot. Certainly Caracas is not the typical carribbean experience but still unforgettable. For the cultur seeker there great variety of museums. There is also a rich night life and the biggest shopping center of Venezuela: Sambil Caracas which leaves no desires unfulfilled. Flights leave hourly with various Venezuelan airlines from Margarita’s Airport.

Merida
The sympathetic capital of the Andes region in the west of Venezuela has 150,000 inhabitants, 40.000 of them are students. The Universidad the Andes was created aproximately in 1785 and with its progressive image and its students shapes significantly the flair of the city. The city which is ubicated on a 1o mile long long rock terrace between two deeply cut river valleys has in Venezuela the fame to be one of the cleanest and tidiest cities of the country. A peaceful atmosphere prevails on the Plaza Bolivar with its colonial architektur in the center of the city.
Like in Caracas the trip with the aerial ropeway offers a breathtaking view over the whole area. It is the longest of its kind in the world with 7.8miles. To reach the station summit at 15.633’ you need approximately an hour and you have to switch cabines 3 times. Especially impressive is the second stage of this journey with its transition from the evergreen wet forrest to the meager Páramo landscape. During high season tickets have to be several days before you want to go. Excursions to several remote ande villages either hiking or with a dunkey are possible. The most popular trip goes to the pictorial village "Los Nevados" at 8894’ To visit this place it is necessary to get at the ground station the permission of INPARQUES.
In the village there are simple accomodations. The hike is lengthy and arduously, but the compensation is a unique panorama view.

Los Roques
The island Island archipelago is a national park. You can reach it via airplane from Margarita in roughly one hour.
The archipelago consists of 47 small islands. Aproximately 1000 roqueños live there, mostly on Gran Roque, where all the pousadas, restaurants and also the airport are to be found.
Los Roques represents most people's dream of a carribbean island: remote, turquois, clear water, white sandy beaches with some palm trees Paradise does not come cheap however.
Los Roques is certainly one of the prettiest places in Venezuela but touristic development lead to collisions between economic and ecologic interests as well as to an increase in prices of restaurants and pousadas.
The village on Gran Roque is the perfect representation of The Carribean Village with paths of white sand, small colourful houses, innumerous little fishing boats and hundreds of pelicans.
Sunsets are undescribable here and the mood is relaxed.
In the morning you can take a boat trip to one of the many small islands to spend the day there in peace and quiet. On the bigger island you can find little restaurants, the smaller islands are completely uninhabited, usually you can be completely by yourself. Los Roques features a rich under water fauna and flora and cristal clear water and small lagoones. This makes it a paradise for schnorchling. Windsurfers and kiteboarders will also find their spot.
The price level of this paradise is higher than in the rest of Venezuela but it is a unique and unforgettable experience.
Flights are nearly daily from Caracas or Porlamar.
